⏰How long do you think sexual intercourse should last? ⏰

5 minutes, 10 minutes, an hour... Do you know how long, on average, sexual intercourse lasts?
The medical consultation service Zavamed conducted an online survey among French people. In all, nearly 1000 people were questioned about their perception of how long it takes to have sex. Result: Two-thirds of French people are wrong about the duration of coitus and are unable to really estimate the time between penetration and ejaculation. 1 French person out of 3 would even tend to overestimate this duration.

HOW LONG DO YOU THINK SEXUAL INTERCOURSE SHOULD LAST?
How long do you think sexual intercourse should last

Previously, a dating site had asked its users what they thought was the ideal duration: women and men had agreed on about 25 minutes, a figure far from the statistics. In reality, sexual intercourse only lasts a handful of minutes: 5.4 minutes on average. So, all premature ejaculators? Well, not really. From a purely medical point of view, premature ejaculation is defined as the inability to retain the ejaculation more than one or two minutes after penetration.

And for Dr. Sophie Albe-Ly, a general practitioner at Zava, if this figure surprises us it is mainly because our expectations do not really match reality: "The duration of what is called, in medical terms, the latency time of intra-vaginal ejaculation, that is, the time between penetration and ejaculation during sexual intercourse, has been established at an average of 5.4 minutes".

Of course, making love is not only about penetration and is not at all about performance. Foreplay is also important. If you want to enjoy the moment, you can't time yourself!

Does size matter? Which position is best to reach orgasm? What is the ideal length of time for sexual intercourse? These are all questions that are the subject of debate... And it is to this last question that Saucydates.com, a British dating site, has tried to answer.

The site interviewed 3,836 people from the United States, Canada, Australia, England, and India.

They asked them how long they had last had sex, not including foreplay, but also how long they thought was the ideal length of time for a sexual relationship.

Results, for women the ideal duration of sexual intercourse is on average 25 minutes and 51 seconds, while for men it would be more like 25 minutes and 43 seconds. But women and men seem to agree on this!

But in reality, we're quite far from the mark... In fact, according to the results of this survey, sexual intercourse generally lasts much less time. Performance varies from one country to another and decreases slightly with age, but on average, intercourse would last no more than 17 minutes.

"The best advice we can give to everyone is to enjoy the moment and if it ends too soon, go for a second round," the dating site says.

At what age did they do it for the first time?

For teenage girls, the choice of the first partner is very important. A meaningless experience, lived only on a mechanical or sexual level, without tenderness or even with brutality, can leave bitter disillusionment and even, in some rare cases, lead to frigidity later on. It would, therefore, seem important to know your partner well and not to be content with a passing relationship to throw yourself into the water. It is necessary to give time for a sentimental story to develop (without even talking about love or passion). The first time will be all the more fulfilling as it will have been preceded by long complicity, and by sexual games without penetration which will be in a way a less anxious way to try.
